Museum of Jewish Heritage

The Museum of Jewish Heritage houses 800 artifacts and 2,000 photographs, and also features a variety of multimedia exhibits in its viewing spaces. It opened in 1997 as a living memorial to the Holocaust.

Exhibits and Departments

  • The War Against the Jews: A large permanent exhibit on the Holocaust.
  • Jewish Life a Century Ago
  • Jewish Renewal: focusing on modern-day Jewish culture, with an emphasis on Israeli culture.
  • Garden of Stones: designed by Andy Goldsworthy
  • Safra Hall: an in-house theater.

Getting There

The Museum of Jewish Heritage is located at 36 Battery Park Place in Downtown Manhattan.

Recent News & Events

Senior keeps Jewish history alive
John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy student David Hartley has been accepted to the Lipper Internship Program of the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Manhattan. Part of his internship includes teaching middle and high school students in New Jersey about the Holocaust.
