The Dahesh Museum is the only museum in the United States devoted to the collection and exhibition of European academic art. The collection originated with Lebanese writer and philosopher Saleem Moosa El-Ashi, pen name Dr. Dahesh.

The museum opened to the public in 1995 at an 1,800 square foot gallery on Fifth Avenue in New York City. In 2002, it moved to a new 30,000 square foot space at 580 Madison Avenue.
